WHAT “EXTRA VIRGIN”
legally means.

"Extra virgin" is not a marketing word. It is an EU category with chemical and sensory limits. These are the legal ceilings — each offer comes with the actual analysis of the lot.

Certifications

Food-safety and specialty certificates (IFS, BRCGS, organic, kosher, halal) belong to the mill or packer that fills your order. Tell us which ones you require and we will only quote suppliers that hold them — with the certificate attached.

"Cold extraction"

Under EU rules, "cold extraction" may only appear on the label when the oil is obtained below 27 °C; "first cold pressing" additionally requires a traditional hydraulic press.

Is Iberian Olive an olive oil producer?

No. Iberian Olive is a Spanish olive oil trading company. We select extra virgin olive oil from Spanish mills and packers, check each lot against its laboratory analysis and coordinate bottling, private label, documentation and shipping.

Which formats can I buy?

Bottled oil in PET or glass, in 250 ml, 500 ml and 1 litre, supplied on full pallets; and bulk oil in 1,000-litre IBCs or flexitanks. Other formats are quoted on request only if we can supply them.

Can I get a sample before ordering?

Yes. Samples are sent with the laboratory analysis (certificate of analysis) of the lot being offered, so you approve the same oil you will receive.

What are the EU legal limits for extra virgin olive oil?

Under Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/2104, extra virgin olive oil must have free acidity ≤ 0.80%, peroxide value ≤ 20 meq O₂/kg, K232 ≤ 2.50, K270 ≤ 0.22, ΔK ≤ 0.01, fatty acid ethyl esters ≤ 35 mg/kg, a median of defects of zero and a median of fruity above zero.

IBC or flexitank: which should I choose?

An IBC holds 1,000 litres (about 0.91 tonnes of olive oil) and suits smaller volumes or buyers without tank storage. A flexitank is a single-use bladder inside a 20-foot container, typically 16,000–24,000 litres — the most cost-efficient option for full-container volumes, but it needs discharge equipment at destination.

How is the wholesale price of Spanish EVOO set?

It follows the price at origin in Spain, which moves weekly with harvest size, stocks and demand, plus the cost of the format, private label work, volume, Incoterm and destination. That is why offers carry a short validity. Public origin price references include Poolred and the European Commission's olive oil market data.

Do you offer private label olive oil?

Yes. We coordinate oil selection, sample approval, bottle and closure (PET or glass, 250 ml to 1 litre), label compliance checks, production, palletisation and export documents. MOQ and lead time depend on the bottle, label and volume and are quoted per project.

What documents come with an export shipment?

Typically a commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of analysis per lot, certificate of origin, the transport document (CMR or bill of lading) and the export declaration; plus an EUR.1 or origin declaration where an EU trade agreement applies, and any health or free-sale certificate the destination requires.
